How do I claim on Excess Protect?

To make a claim, simply complete this form or give us a call 0344 809 9371. 

You must make your Excess Protect claim within 30 days of your car insurance claim being settled by 1st CENTRAL.

Please note that you'll still have to pay your excess in the first instance. Excess Protect Cover allows you to claim it back as a refund.

You can find your total excess amount on your policy schedule under 'Your excesses'. This will include your voluntary amount and any other compulsory excesses. You can view your schedule in Your Account.

The total excess can include: the young or inexperienced driver excess, vehicle/policy excess (additional own damage, fire and theft), non-approved network repairer excess and your voluntary excess.

What extra benefits do I get with Excess Protect?

With Excess Protect you’ll get your excess refunded following the settlement of a claim by 1ST CENTRAL (excluding windscreen only claims) resulting from:

  • Fire*
  • Theft*
  • Food
  • Vandalism
  • An accident that was your fault
  • An accident that was partly your fault
  • An accident where you are unable to recover your excess from a liable third party within six months

  • Enjoy peace of mind knowing that you won’t be responsible for a large excess bill in the event of a car insurance claim
  • Choose your own level of cover from £300 to £1,000
  • Make multiple claims on Excess Protect up to the value of cover you choose

How do I make changes to my policy?
Your Account is the place to go to make updates to your policy and if you make a change through Your Account, you'll benefit from paying a reduced admin fee.
