Who is 1ST CENTRAL?

1ST CENTRAL is a business name used by First Central Insurance Management Ltd which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (483296) and registered in England and Wales (6489797) at Central House, 25 - 27 Perrymount Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 3TP.

First Central Insurance Management Ltd is a subsidiary of First Central Group Ltd and the following Privacy Policy sets out how First Central Group companies, and the insurers we act as an intermediary for, will use the information you submit to us via this website.

We are bound by the UK Data Protection Act 1998, Gibraltar Data Protection Act 2004 and the data protection laws of the relevant jurisdictions.

Personal information
Your personal information is required to deliver your quote and issue your policy e.g. name, address, contact details, car details, details of claims and convictions

Payment information
We collect payment information from you when you purchase a policy e.g. card details and/or bank details. For details about how we handle this information, read the security section below.

Other information we may collect

Your IP address
This is your computer’s individual identification number for internet connection. We collect this for fraud detection and prevention purposes.

Information via cookies
If you have allowed us to set cookies, we will collect information via these cookies which will help us remember you, so when you return to our site, we can deliver you more relevant content and help you complete forms without having to re-enter information. Read our Cookies Policy here.

Analytics
We may collect information about your activity on our website which is aggregated in our analytics software. We use this information to help us make decisions about how to improve the website for our customers.

How will we communicate with you?
We will use your email address to send you details of your quote. Once you have bought your policy, we will communicate important information about your insurance by email. We may also send you SMS updates and may call you if we need to speak to you urgently about your policy

We will seek to auto-renew your policy and communicate this via letter or email with you before proceeding

We may contact you for research purposes to ask you for feedback on our products and services

Marketing

When you first get a quote on the site, we will collect your marketing preferences - i.e. whether you would like to be kept up to date with our news and offers and by what means; email, SMS, post or phone.

If you are opted in to receiving marketing communications, we will send you information we think you will find interesting or useful and share offers on behalf of other relevant companies.

How we use your information to issue and manage your policy

Sensitive information
Some of the information you give us may be sensitive, such as health, claims and conviction history. We will treat this information in the strictest confidence and not use it except for the specific purpose for which you provide it.

Information you give to us on behalf of others
If you give us information about another person, e.g. when obtaining car insurance on behalf of a relative, in doing so you confirm that they have given you permission to provide it to us and also that you have told them who we are and what we will use their data for, as set out in this Privacy Policy and related documents.

Credit reference agencies
When we provide you with a quote and assess payment options most appropriate for you, we conduct a search on the electoral roll and through a credit reference agency. A record of the check will be held by the credit reference agency who may place a footprint of ‘insurance search’ on your credit file. This footprint will not alter your credit score. We may continue to obtain information through credit reference agencies to check your credit status and suitability for other products we may offer, including changes to your existing policy and renewal.

Fraud prevention agencies
If fraud is identified or suspected, details may be passed to fraud prevention agencies. Law enforcement agencies may access this information. Read more about how we protect our customers from fraud.

Industry databases
All insurers pass information to the Claims and Underwriting Exchange Register run by Insurance Database Services Ltd (IDS Ltd) and the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register, run by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). When we deal with your request for insurance, in the event of any incident or claim, or at time of renewal, we may search these databases to help us check information provided and also to prevent fraudulent claims.

Security

Site security
We take security seriously. For this reason we ask our customers to provide a password to help us protect your information. This password is used to access your policy information and documents online. If you have forgotten your password or email address, you can retrieve them on the Account Recovery page.

When retrieving a quote, we will ask you to identify yourself by telling us your email, date of birth and quote reference number before displaying your quote information.

To protect the information you submit to us online, we use the industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption technology to ensure that all your personal and transactional information is encrypted before transmission.

Depending on your browser you should see a closed lock or unbroken key in the bottom left hand corner or in the URL bar to signify that SSL is active and you are in a secure area of our site.

Our technology and policies are in place to safeguard your privacy from unauthorised access/improper use and we continually update these measures as new technology becomes available.

Storing your data securely
The information we hold about you in order to manage your policy, is encrypted and stored securely in private dedicated server environments.

Please note that some of the information we store about your behaviour on our website that we collect via analytics packages is stored on secure servers outside of the EU. Please note that this data does not contain any personally identifiable, sensitive or financial information.

Security of third party sites
We cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other websites, even if you access then using links from our website and we recommend that you check the policy of each site you visit.

Internet communications
We would like to make you aware that communications over the internet, such as emails are not secure unless they have been encrypted. Your communications may route through a number of countries before being delivered - this is the nature of the World Wide Web/Internet. We cannot accept responsibility for any unauthorised access or loss of personal information that is beyond our control.

In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, we charge £10 to cover administration costs.

Please include with your request; a cheque made payable to ‘First Central Insurance Management Ltd', your name, address and policy number and tell us what information you would like.
